Ohio Video Competition Act Begins

Ohio Consumers Should Begin Seeing Choices in Cable Providers

Video competition is booming in the Buckeye State! Thirty-two franchises have recently been approved by the Ohio Department of Commerce, allowing new providers to offer innovative video services and technologies to local consumers.

Governor Ted Strickland signed the Video Competition Act into law in June 2007, and soon after, providers quickly began applying to serve consumers throughout Ohio. Now, more than a dozen companies are authorized to offer service. Consumers will finally have the opportunity to experience real competition!

TV4US has advocated on behalf of millions of individuals across the state so that Ohioans will have more choices, lower prices, better customer service and advances in technology. While cable consumers have secured an important victory with the passage of the Video Competition Act, we must make sure that we continue moving forward and encourage new companies to do business in the state. This will allow Ohio consumers to reap the full benefits of a competitive, innovative marketplace.
